The Newspaper

One day in a coffee shop, a man read in a newspaper about an octopus that always accurately predicted the outcomes of football games and a monkey who repeatedly picked winning stocks. The man closed the newspaper and tried to understand what he had read. Relief, nausea, panic, and even mirth circled around inside his head like a horseless carousel. Once again, the waitress brought him an espresso instead of a cappuccino.
